         ScanMaster – A Data Field Scanning and Replacement Tool 
A. Overview Of The ScanMaster Utility.


Data modification can be a simple every day task or exhausted search chase and replace process. With the ScanMaster automatic scanning and replacement engine, all you need is to insert the field length and data. ScanMaster scanning engine will search for matching data in fields through all the system files members, display matching results, and replace it according to the field length and field data parameters you enter. The tool has various helpful modules, features and useful options to simplify data field modifications, so if you want to reorganize your data fields in more simple, accurate, immediate and controlled way ScanMaster is the ideal solution.


B. Using The ScanMaster Utility.


The ScanMaster has several useful and important features for field modifications. The tool allow you to scan data fields according to two search parameters: Field data and Field length. The tool scans through all the file field descriptions in your database looking for matching fields. Listing display will show you all matching results in the files members

C. Options available from within the ScanMaster.


Create one or several different tasks to find or find and replace data in members.
Select files in libraries for the scanning process.
Display log for each step of the scanning process.


Control data replacement process:
Removing found fields in files from the scanning result list.
Generating replacement data programs.


A program for each file and member.
Running replacement programs.


D. Example of ScanMaster.

As an example, you need to modify your product catalog and change the field data name from AAAABBBBB to BBBBBAAAAA. You also know the field length: 10. That is the only information you need to insert.
ScanMaster allows you to enter the field length – 10 Decimal – none.

You also need to define the data for scanning in fields, and the data to replace the data found.

You may select files in libraries to be scan for field length and for finding the data (AAAAABBBBB) you want to replace in those fields

In order to create a replacement program you need to type the prefix name for the programs to be created, the name of the library to store the programs, the name of the source file to install the program list and the name of the library in which the source file is stored

Using Opt=10 Run program reference
This option will run program will replace the data field AAAAABBBBB to BBBBBAAAAA.
There are several options available to assist you during running the file replacement programs. You can also display the task log with the description of the phase and scanning statistics.
