A. Overview Of The Master Conversion.
The Master Conversion is a generic AS/400 Assessment, Analysis, Creation, Conversion and Verification utility, particularly designed by K.S.T to provide a powerful project conversion tool to be used for any maintenance task.
B. Using The Master Conversion Utility.
The Master Conversion tool enables you to perform a complete conversion cycle.
Cleans unused objects and sources, creates working environments,
defines conversion defaults, analyzes files, analyzes fields in sources,
analyzes files in programs, generates files conversion programs and changes source code. All that to simplify the conversion or maintenance project with more accuracy and ending successfully and in time the project.
C. Options available from within the Master Conversion.
Define project defaults and conversion rules.
Creating environments for conversion teams.
Inventory, cross-reference and exception reports to evaluate the project size.
Scan and analyze fields in files using a powerful search engine.
Analyzing field or string in sources with propagation and refresh options.

Each option is one-step of the conversion cycle process and you can always rerun or repeat each step. Refresh options and add options are also available.
The scan task is used to find fields in files that are the subject of the conversion project.
You can search by field string, text string, field reference and length.

The search results from the scan field operation is stored in files called "Scan files" and are the basis for the next step:
Analyzing sources.

Option 2= List of fields found in the field scan process.
Option 3= Scan sources searches the field or string in the source members.
Option 5= Work with the found sources with a user interface.
Option 7= Insert field data conversion rules.
Option 8= The rule is attached to the field and will be used later during the data conversion program generation.
This step completes the scan tasks by searching files (physical and logical) in programs.

Option 6= Find files in programs included logical files.
Option 8= Work with found programs from option 6.
Creating data conversion program is very easy, all you need to do is to
choose the operation you want to implement on the field and then
create the program.
